The sculptors and stone masons of Mamallapuram, India have worked the stone here for millenia adapting their craft with time to cater for changes around them.

Today, in response to tourists visiting the nearby attractions, they carve trinkets of items such as Christian and Celtic Crosses as well as abstract alien faces alongside traditional favourites such as the Elephant Headed god, Ganesh ... seen here surfing the web.

These men are renowned for their artistry and are often involved in work on temples for the diaspora.
